Each year The Good Universities Guide releases a fresh batch of university rankings, which reveal Australia’s top performing universities in 13 different categories.
Let’s look at what current Australian students think matters the most while attending university and which universities rankest highest in these categories.
Employability
The Good Universities Guide’sFull-Time Employment ratings look at the proportion of graduates who are employed on a full-time basis four months after completing their course. Charles Sturt University is the highest-performing university in this category with 86.3%, followed by Charles Darwin University(83%) and CQUniversity(79%).
Graduate salary
Unsurprisingly, graduate starting salary is a consistent factor in what matters to students. University of Southern Queensland and Charles Darwin University ranked equal highest with a median salary of $65,200.
Student support
What does good student supportlook like? For some, it’s smooth and efficient enrolment processes and successful orientation days — for others, it’s accessible services from faculties or counsellors.Bond Universityscored the highest with 89.40%, followed by The University of Notre Dame with 83.7%. Federation University was the highest-ranked university in Victoria with 79.8%. The vice-chancellor of Federation University, Professor Helen Bartlett, saidthat the university understands the challenges that many of their students face and know the power of education to transform lives.
Teaching quality
Teaching Quality looks at the proportion of students who were satisfied with the quality of teachers they experienced. In descending order, the universities who achieved five-star ratings in this category are Bond University (90%), The University of Notre Dame (90%), Edith Cowan University (85.9%) and University of New England (84.1%).
