The Bachelor of Communication and Media offers you a strong foundation in the national and international communication and media industries. With a focus on preparing you for global careers, the course places an emphasis on high-level skills in media production, communication research and independent project work.The Screen Media Production major explores how digital screen media is changing in a global context.You will learn how to produce innovative content for both niche and mainstream audiences and learn how screen and entertainment media are financed, produced and distributed around the world. You will develop expertise in analysing the language of visual media, while you explore the movies, TV shows and newer media forms that are emerging with specific audiences in mind.At the same time, you will learn a suite of practical skills in screen production and transmedia storytelling that will enable you to express your own ideas creatively and with social impact.

Structure

The Bachelor of Communication and Media requires the successful completion of 144 credit points, consisting of:1. 30 credit points of core subjects, plus;2. At least one of the majors from the list below (48 credit points)*3. Subjects to bring the total number of credit points completed to 144. This may include;a. A second major study from the list below,b. Up to two minors from the list below, ORc. Subjects from the general schedule of electives and/or from the remaining Bachelor of Communication and Media subjects listed below.*Students undertaking the Marketing Communication and Advertising Major (MAJ40266) are required to take one additional BCM major from the list below.As per the General Course Rules, no more than one subject may be cross counted towards a minor, major or core degree requirements.Students must not complete more than 60 credit points of 100 level subjects.

Standard entry requirements

Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.
