This degree is designed for those who are interested in understanding how people think, feel and behave across different contexts. You will learn from leading academics from many fields of psychology who will guide you through a tailored program, specifically designed to give you the skills sought after by employers across multiple professions. In addition to the core psychology content of the Bachelor of Psychological Sciences, this degree offers the opportunity to extend your knowledge and deepen your critical thinking skills through advanced science coursework and a major cross-disciplinary project. You will work with a small cohort of students in Advanced degrees across the College of Engineering, Science and the Environment to develop and practice scientific enquiry and professional development skills needed to problem-solve in the real world.

Structure

  • Students are required to complete a total of, but no more than, 240 units, comprised of the following: 190 units of core courses
  • 10 unit psychology directed course
  • 40 units of electives.

Subjects

  • Study courses in: psychological research methodologies, statistics, cognition and information processing, social psychology and personality, clinical and abnormal behaviour, forensic psychology, health psychology, neuroscience, perceptual processes, learning theory, and developmental psychology.

Standard entry requirements

Year 12 HSC ATAR of 95 or equivalent

Recognition

Students receive accreditation through APAC in recognition of their high-quality education and working knowledge. Students who go on to complete an accredited Honours and postgraduate study in Psychology will be eligible for provisional registration as a psychologist.

Study pathways

If you wish to practice as a psychologist, you must complete additional accredited postgraduate studies.
