The Master of Design prepares you to break boundaries and push design to new heights. This course is for the bold, the rule-breakers and the innovators ready to create human-centred solutions. With a selection of electives, you can tailor your journey to your career ambitions.Throughout, you’ll sharpen your leadership skills, dive into the world of enterprise and explore how creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship can rewrite economies. In the core subjects, you’ll design artefacts, systems and services that challenge the status quo. Then, dig deeper into cutting-edge areas like user-centred design, sustainability, design leadership, and how design can spark social and economic change. Study face-to-face or online, and if you’ve already got a design background, you can fast-track your way to the finish line.

Structure

The Master of Design is delivered both on campus and online.For cognate entry (with a design qualification or background) the course comprises of eight core subjects and one elective subject.For non-cognate entry (with no design qualification or background) the course comprises of 11 core subjects and two elective subjects.Each subject requiring 10 hours of study per week (made up of classes and self-directed study). Assessments may include activity-based assignments or online quizzes. There are no formal exams.

Standard entry requirements

Completion of any Bachelor degree or equivalent are eligible to enter the 2 Year Non-Cognate Program OR Completion of a Bachelor of Design degree or equivalent, or successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Design are eligible to enter the 1.5 Year Cognate Program OR Completion of any recognised Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience demonstrated by a resume or portfolio.
