Discover how to help people of all ages with speech, language, fluency, swallowing and voice disorders. You will work with a wide range of people, from small children who have difficulties understanding their pare nots to injured adults who need to learn how to speak and swallow again. You will integrate your learning from Years 2 to 4 through case-based and simulated learning activities that will help you develop a range of practical client management skills. You will also undertake simulated activities in the schools six-bed simulation ward, and learn how to use innovative systems like telepractice. Importantly, you will complete a range of supervised clinical placements to demonstrate your competency for entry into the profession. These clinical placements can include hospitals, educational facilities, healthcare organizations, private practices and UQs own open-to-the-public Speech Pathology clinic.
