This double degree allows students to choose from a broad range of Business specialisations and combine them with a major in Psychology. On completion of this degree, students will be able to apply knowledge of psychological principles and applications across many business areas, including the application of research methods to commercial issues in local, national and international contexts. Students can also combine Psychology and Commerce studies with other disciplines available in the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce degrees. Structure

4.5 years full-time or part-time equivalent. During this double degree, the psychology subjects include biological and social bases of behaviour, cognition and perception, social and developmental psychology, personality, and applied psychology. Students will also learn the fundamentals of psychological practice, including the history of psychology, statistical and quantitative methods and psychological assessment. The first year of the Bachelor of Commerce requires all students to study common core business subjects including the principles of responsible commerce, accounting fundamentals, statistics for business and marketing principals. The second and third year will focus on a major commerce study area.

DOMESTIC STUDENTS - ATAR-BASED ADMISSION OPTIONS Guaranteed entry selection ranks Entry to this course can be gained with: Minimum ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) International Baccalaureate (IB) Interstate equivalent (such as the Victorian ENTER or Queensland OP) Results in an overseas qualification deemed equivalent to Australian year 12 The minimum score for guaranteed entry (or for consideration if this course has limited places) is an ATAR-Selection Rank of 75 or an IB of 26. This includes the effect of adjustment factors. Adjustment factors, such as the subjects you are studying, the area in which you live or equity and access schemes, are taken into consideration and these will be combined with your ATAR to adjust your selection rank and make it higher than your ATAR. These adjustments used to be called bonus points. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia. In order to succeed in your chosen course, it is assumed you have completed relevant subjects in your senior high school studies or other relevant qualifications. This is particularly important for degrees which have a strong basis in Mathematics or Science.

Recognition

For the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), completion of four years in Psychology is an important first step for registration as a psychologist in Australia. The Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) is accredited as the first three years of study. To complete the four years, students must complete an Honours year to meet the academic requirements for eligibility for provisional registration as a psychologist. An additional two years of supervised practice is necessary to apply for registration as a professional psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. This can be through two years of supervised practice in the community or a fifth year of psychology study at university plus one year of supervised practice in the community or through an accredited Masters or professional doctoral degree. Some majors within the Bachelor of Commerce enable graduates to meet the membership requirements of relevant professional associations. Study pathways

If applicants can demonstrate they have met the learning outcomes for UOW subjects through prior learning, such as previous tertiary or TAFE qualifications, they may be eligible for credit towards their degree.
