If you're studying BPPE, you can apply for Honours in your major whether it's economics, philosophy, politics, or political economy. In Honours, you'll join seminar classes and work on a research thesis with guidance from one of our expert academics. Honours is for those aiming to launch a career as an academic or professional researcher. During the honours year, you will engage in seminar classes and work on a short thesis, conducting an independent research project under the guidance of an expert academic staff member in your field.

Standard entry requirements

  • Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (or equivalent) including a major in the proposed honours subject area at the University of Sydney, or equivalent studies at another institution.
  • IELTS of 7.0 overall and no less than 6.0 in each band.
  • For students wishing to complete honours in Economics, additional requirements as specified by the Honours coordinator may be required.
  • A Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 70 or equivalent or a higher mark in the proposed honours subject area
  • And meet any other requirements for honours entry set by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
