La Trobe University

Type of institution: University/Higher Education Institution
Level: Undergraduate
CRICOS: 00115M

Building skills in both science and commerce gives students a competitive edge in the workforce. This four-year degree allows students to study commerce subjects along with any of La Trobe's science subjects including botany, genetics, chemistry and agricultural science. Core commerce subjects will include professional accounting such as cost accounting, tax and advanced financial accounting. La Trobe's industry links with global corporations such as Deloitte and PwC mean students gain insights from guest lecturers working in the industry including the Managing Partner of Ernst & Young, the Victorian Auditor-General and members of Deloitte Forensics. Students may also have the opportunity to complete work placements at these organisations. Through these science subjects, students have access to world-class researchers from our Centre for AgriBioscience along with teaching and research facilities like the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science. These research hubs offer regular seminars on topics as diverse as climate change, cancer treatments and freshwater ecology, along with purpose-built labs and teaching spaces.

Students must complete 480 credit points, including all core subjects of each degree. At least 90 credit points must be at third year level from each degree. Students must complete 240 credit points in the Bachelor of Commerce, eight common core subjects and eight subjects from their chosen major. Students must complete at least one major, chosen from the list offered within the Bachelor of Science degree.
