Biomedical engineering is a multidisciplinary branch of engineering that combines knowledge of mechanical, mechatronic, electrical, chemical and materials engineering as well as information technology with the life sciences of medicine, biology and molecular biology. This degree meets the entry requirements for the Doctor of Medicine program.

Standard entry requirements

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • Selection via ATAR. HSC Mathematics Extension 1, Chemistry and/or Physics. From 2019, this course will require a course prerequisite of Mathematics (Band 4 or higher). The assumed knowledge will still apply. Recommended studies: Biology.

Those who attempt Engineering without a prior assumed level of knowledge may experience difficulty. The University strongly encourages students to undertake an appropriate bridging course.
