The Bachelor of Environmental Science addresses today's scientific issues and explores how humans interact with the environment, how we can manage it best, and how we can better influence positive attitudes. Studies involve in-depth examinations in biological, earth and social sciences. Students master the basic skills of Geospatial Information Systems and develop problem-solving skills on the field trips offered throughout the degree.

Standard entry requirements

  • Qualify for South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) with competitive ATAR
  • Or complete secondary education equivalent to SACE
  • Complete International Baccalaureate Diploma
  • Complete or partially complete higher education program
  • Complete four Open Universities Australia courses at undergraduate level or above
  • Complete a Certificate IV level or above
  • Qualify for special entry
  • Complete a Foundation Studies program
  • Complete the Associate Degree in Engineering at the University of South Australia
  • And meet any pre-requisite and academic requirements. International students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained the required standards prior to admission.

Study pathways

Students can also undertake a Combined Degree program, which enables them to study two undergraduate degrees simultaneously in less time than two single degrees. If studying a Combined Degree Program students only have to apply once through SATAC. If students complete this degree with an average grade of credit or above and are interested in postgraduate research they can apply to enter the Bachelor of Sustainable Environments (Honours). This degree has a common first year with the Bachelor of Geospatial Science, so students can transfer and retain the credits for courses they have completed.
