The Graduate Certificate in Business is for those who want to advance their career, formalise their industry experience or up-skill and move into a business-focused role within their field. This course covers key business areas including accounting, financial management, organisational behaviour and marketing management.The Graduate Certificate in Business caters for both professional and lifestyle commitments by giving students the choice to study on campus at Wollongong or Sydney CBD, or online. Students who select to study online can choose from two delivery modes:Distance delivery refers to learning activities that do not require you to attend campus, but instead allow you to join pre-scheduled virtual classes.Online delivery refers to virtual study at your own pace with academic support.Students undertaking the program have access to a full suite of support services including:Access to dedicated course director.Extensive online library resources, including business journals, electronic books and business databases.Career and job-seeking assistance, including a specialist careers consultant who is accessible for up to 2 years after you graduate.Student counsellor.Graduates of this course can progress to a Masters program offered by UOW's Sydney Business School. You will be granted credit for 4 subjects in the Master of Business and Master of Science programs. Progression with credit to other Masters programs, including the MBA, may also be possible.

Structure

  • The Graduate Certificate in Business requires the successful completion of 24 credit points of subjects listed below.Note:Students who intend to progress to Master of Financial Management must complete ECON802 instead of OPS 802
  • All other students complete OPS 802
  • Students who are completing the Graduate Certificate as a standalone degree or intend to progress to any of the specialist Masters or the Master of Business Administration should complete the subjects as listed below.BUS800 is a zero credit point subject that needs to be completed by all students
  • andDomestic and international students may apply for an exemption from BUS800 by making an application to the Head of Students.

Standard entry requirements

A recognised bachelor's or master's degree, ora tertiary academic qualification with duration of at least 3 years’ full- time equivalent, orapplicants with 3 years’ fulltime equivalent managerial/professional work experience.

Study pathways

Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Business, students may enrol in a Master's program offered by Sydney Business School, University of Wollongong. Students will be granted credit for four subjects in Master of Business (all single or double major programs) or Master of Supply Chain and/or Master of Project Management. Progression to other Masters programs, including the MBA, may also be possible with some credit including 12 credit points towards the MBA.
