The Bachelor of Game Design and Development explores the fundamentals of game design, ideation and production, teaching you to transform ideas into playable experiences through creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving. You’ll develop advanced technical and artistic skills, with a strong understanding of production pipelines, design principles and games culture.This degree is built on three core pillars: asset production, game ideation and design, and game project management. Throughout the course, you’ll build professional communication, leadership, and project management skills while developing a strong portfolio. You’ll create games from the ground up through real industry experience, completing work-integrated learning and a capstone project that culminates in a complete and polished portfolio piece.
Structure
Delivered both on campus and online, the Bachelor of Game Design and Development comprises 17 core subjects and five elective subjects, each subject requiring 10 hours of study per week (made up of classes and self-directed study). Assessments may include activity-based assignments or online quizzes. There are no formal exams.
Standard entry requirements
Australian secondary school certificate, or equivalent OR Successful completion of a Vocational qualification (AQF Level 4), or above OR Successful completion of at least 0.25 EFTSL at AQF level 6, 0.5 EFTSL at AQF level 5 or above, or equivalent OR Work life experience demonstrating the ability to undertake study at the required level which may include approval of prior study or successful completion of a readiness assessment.
