The Bachelor of Science (Honours) is designed for high-achieving students who want to deepen their scientific expertise and prepare for a successful research career. The program includes a two-semester research project, offering you hands-on experience and an opportunity to contribute to ongoing scientific inquiry. It serves as a stepping stone to a Master of Science (Research) or PhD, while also opening doors to leadership roles in both academia and industry.

Structure

Successful completion of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) requires students to complete units of study to the value of 100 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated.

Standard entry requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Science (Honours) course, students must have completed a Bachelor degree (or an equivalent three-year undergraduate degree) with a relevant science major and must have at least a credit average in Science studies undertaken. Students who achieve at least two distinctions in relevant third year units may also be considered. Please note that offers made are limited by the number of places available, and preference is given to students who have completed their undergraduate degree at Swinburne. Agreement of a Project Supervisor for the Honours Research Project proposed is mandatory.
