The Certificate III in Sinology Studies is designed to provide participants with foundational knowledge and skills in Sinology, with an emphasis on understanding classical texts and applying traditional values in personal, social, and community contexts. Through studies in Confucian philosophy, foundational Chinese cultural texts, participants will gain an appreciation for the ethical, social, and historical elements of Sinology.This course prepares learners to:•Develop cultural and ethical insights by studying texts such as Guidelines for Being a Good Person, Life Wisdom for the Young, Three Character Classic and the Essential Rules, Etiquette for Human Behaviour and Buddhism The Awakening of Compassion and Wisdom.•Apply principles from classical Chinese teachings in Essentials of Confucianism to foster personal growth, social harmony, and respectful conduct in various settings.•Recall and reflect on key philosophical tenets, including the Fundamentals of Being a Sage, fostering lifelong skills in recall and reflective learning.Graduates of this course will have the theoretical and practical skills necessary to interpret Sinology texts and apply learned concepts with autonomy and responsibility, aligned with AQF Level 3 competencies. This course can serve as a pathway to further studies in cultural education, community engagement, or Sinology studies at more advanced levels.
