Combine the clinical, technological and business aspects of health to improve patient care and support health systems. Queensland’s only heath information management course offers industry placements during your study. Health information management combines the clinical, technological and business aspects of health. Health information managers collect, manage and report health data to support the clinical care of patients and also to contribute to the management of health services. Your study will focus on business and people management, including analysing and managing budgets. IT units will support your understanding and use of digital health systems. Health units will develop knowledge in medical terminology, the Australian healthcare system, clinical classifications and casemix management.

Blue Card and Hepatitis B vaccinations prior to commencing clinical placement components. Diphtheria, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Rubella, Tetanus and Varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccinations are mandatory for all students attending a Queensland Health facility for placement. Hepatitis A, Influenza and Poliomyelitis are highly recommended for all Health students. QUT offers a range of scholarships that provide real support for students. Our offer guarantee can give you peace of mind about your study choices. If you receive an ATAR or selection rank equal to or higher than the offer guarantee, you are guaranteed a place in the course regardless of the threshold. This means that when you know your ATAR or selection rank you can check your eligibility for a QUT course before receiving an offer. You still need to lodge a QTAC application by the closing date. A small number of courses do not participate in the offer guarantee scheme.
