The MPhil degree involves the independent investigation of a research problem that has been formulated by you as the student. It is expected that the research you undertake will make a contribution to the discipline in which you are enrolled by applying, critiquing, analysing or interpreting that knowledge in ways that facilitate pathways for further learning.The principal component of the MPhil is a thesis of up to 35,000 words, embodying the results of a research project. Candidates are supported by a minimum of two supervisors throughout their candidature. Together with supervisors, each candidate is responsible for developing the research program to be followed and should be designed to take no more than two years of full time equivalent candidature.

Structure

This course consists of a coursework component and a research and thesis component.

Standard entry requirements

All applicants must be able to demonstrate a capacity to carry out independent research and have adequate training and ability to pursue the proposed course of study.
