Computer scientists drive everything from search engines to daily weather reports, animation, cybersecurity and scientific discoveries. When students study computer science, they develop the skills to design data structures (to organise information), develop algorithms (as instructions for computers), and create software to solve real-world computational challenges.
This course comprises 144 points, of which 96 points must be from computer science study and 48 points are used to provide additional depth or breadth through elective study. Students can apply for the highly regarded Industry Based Learning (IBL) program,in which you undertake a 22-week, full-time industry placement as part of the curriculum. These count towards courses and are supported by generous scholarships.

Standard entry requirements
- Year 12 equivalent
- Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in English other than EAL, and a study score of at least 25 in Mathematical Methods (any) or Specialist Mathematics
