Build on your successes in the Bachelor of Biomedicine by completing Honours to enhance essential employability skills or take your first step to a career in research, academia and beyond. You'll conduct your own research project under the mentorship of La Trobe's expert researchers, building on the knowledge and accomplishments obtained in your Bachelor's degree, and gaining exposure to cutting-edge techniques and scientific advances. Honours in Biomedicine gives you the opportunity to specialise in the following disciplines: animal physiology and health agriculture biochemistry and cell biology chemistry environment and genetics human anatomy, physiology and pharmacology microbiology Projects are located at the Melbourne and Albury-Wodonga La Trobe campuses and at external research institutes such as the Baker Institute and Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute. By completing Honours, you'll be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge in your field and, through your professional behaviours, the values that shape the work of a professional scientist.

Standard entry requirements

  • Non Year 12 - Higher Education study: HE prerequisites - Course specific requirements - Australian Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant study area. Students are selected based on their performance in the final year of the pass degree course. Students must obtain a minimum average of 60 per cent across all of their third-year subjects and obtain at least 65 per cent in subjects related to the Honours discipline to the value of 60 credit points. Meeting this requirement, however, does not guarantee a place in the Honours year as resources may limit the total number of places available, and students are expected to find a supervisor prior to enrolment.
  • International: IELTS - 6.5 < 6.0 (PG minimum) - 6.5 IELTS (Academic) with no individual band less than 6.0.
