The Master of Teaching (Primary) (MTPR) is an initial teacher education (ITE) degrees that prepare pre service teachers (PSTs) to teach in primary educational settings. PSTs enrolled in the MTPR will develop in depth curriculum and pedagogy knowledge in teaching specialist areas aligned with state and national curriculum frameworks. The courses provide a balance of education learning theory with specialised content knowledge and applied pedagogical approaches.

Structure

To qualify for the Master of Teaching (Primary), a student must complete 72 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic.

Standard entry requirements

  • Applicants must normally hold a degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.
  • Applicants must complete a non academic capabilities assessment task that is based on the Australian Institute for Teaching and school Leadership Initial Teacher Education standards.
