The Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (GCES) builds the knowledge and skills of students to increase their impact and capability in the workplace. The course aims to inspire and empower Christian teachers to serve God with excellence in education, in the context of spirituality, wellbeing, integrity and service.

Structure

The Graduate Certificate of Educational Studies (GCES) consists of four units and requires 24 credit points to complete. All units are worth six credit points each unless otherwise stated.

Standard entry requirements

  • GENERAL ADMISSION CRITERIA.
  • To qualify for admission, you must have completed: An Australian Qualifications Framework AQF Level 7 four-year Bachelors degree in education, bachelors degree followed by a diploma of education, bachelor of teaching, or equivalent from an accredited university or higher education provider.
  • An overseas education qualification comparable to an Australian Qualifications Framework AQF Level 7 or higher.
  • SPECIFIC ADMISSION CRITERIA.
  • The following are the specific criteria for admission: A resume/CV to demonstrate at least two years of teaching experience, including a written summary of your relevant work experience.
  • ADVANCED STANDING.
  • Applicants with an Australian Qualifications Framework AQF Level 8 qualification (or higher) in a cognate area may be eligible for advanced standing (credit recognition). Refer to the Advanced Standing Policy for more information.
  • INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS International applicants must meet the Australian Governments visa requirements to reside in Australia while studying at Avondale University.

  • ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS Applicants who completed their bachelors degree (or overseas equivalent) in a language other than English must demonstrate English language proficiency by achieving a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall with no sub-band below 6.0.
