Virtually real – getting to know your future university from the comfort of home
Brought to you by The University of South Australia
So, it’s that ‘Open Day’ time of year and you’re exploring your study options. You’d love to get onto university grounds, check out the facilities, speak to academics and get a feel for life on campus. But you can’t. The borders are still closed (or restricted) and there aren’t even any study fairs where you can meet a university representative and listen to them enthusiastically describe life on campus — including tips on where to find the best coffee.
The good news is that many universities are offering new and interesting ways for you to explore your options. Thanks to virtual experiences, you can get a real feel for your future university and home city.
The University of South Australia is offering a three-day international virtual fair (16–18 September) called Hey UniSA! where you can log on from the comfort of your home and see what’s on offer. It’s a great way to find out what you need to know from the people who can deliver the right information in real time.
Live sessions
When opting for virtual, it’s important to feel like you’re truly connecting with people and places. Live sessions are a great way to do exactly that. At Hey UniSA! you can explore a range of topics via live sessions — from learning about degrees to gaining insights into student life, support services or exploring the city of Adelaide. Each session includes a live chat so you can listen and interact along the way. You can also book into a one-on-one appointment to speak to an international team member and ask any questions you like, even the one about campus coffee!
Go local with language
Even though you’ve been studying English for a while, sometimes it’s easier to ask questions in your native language. Hey UniSA! is offering a number of live local language sessions in Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese and Vietnamese. Language doesn’t have to be a barrier in discovering your best degree options and you can even speak to someone in your own language through our one-on-one appointments.
Online study
Everyone is looking forward to the day when students from around the world can travel and commence their study on campus. Until that day, online study continues to be a reality for many students. Hey UniSA! includes a session on how you can begin your studies online and transfer to on-campus later, so you can make a start on your studies while you wait for borders to open. You don’t have to live your life on pause.
Welcoming students back to Adelaide
The Australian Federal Government has recently approved an International Student Arrival Plan for South Australia so students who commence their studies online will qualify, and be considered for travel to Adelaide. While details are still being mapped out, it means that the city of Adelaide is one step closer to welcoming international students back. Our online session for Hey UniSA! will include an update on the return plan.
Embrace the virtual world this Open Day season and take the time to discover what’s possible. Register for Hey UniSA! to learn about degrees, online study, student life and support, plus more.
