Quantitative Genomics of Complex Traits in the Norfolk Island Isolate

A PhD opportunity is available at the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, Queensland University Technology to study the quantitative genetics of complex health traits in the Norfolk Island isolate. Specifically, the project will involve statistical analysis of whole genome sequence data to understand the population genetic architecture of this unique founder population in relation to polygenetic traits that underpin complex disease risk. The successful applicant will learn a variety of methods involved in disease gene mapping with next generation sequencing data sets, such as association testing of common and rare variants and polygenic marker analysis using machine learning techniques. The scholarship is provided via a grant from the Australian Research Council.
