Cell and molecular biology is one of the most rapid growth areas in science. This field incorporates fundamental components of biological and medical science and has an increasingly important role in many aspects of modern medicine, genetics, evolutionary biology, genomics, bioinformatics and biotechnology. This major will provide you with the skills and knowledge to enter careers in biomedical science and the biotechnology industry.The Bachelor of Science is a flexible three year degree which allows you to choose from a variety of majors. In addition to these majors, opportunities exist for you to select additional minors to explore other areas of study.
Structure
The Bachelor of Science requires successful completion of at least 144 credit points from one of the majors below.1) 36 credit points of common first year subjects2) One major from the list below consisting of 108 credit points3) A maximum of 60 credit points of 100-level subjects4) Complete a minimum of 24 credit points of 300-level subjects.5) Students must have a grade of Pass (not Pass Supplementary) or higher in at least 24 credit points of 300-level core subjects which form part of a Science major.Chemistry RuleStudents who have achieved a mark of 65% or more in NSW HSC Chemistry (or equivalent) must select CHEM101 in Autumn and CHEM102 in Spring. All other students must select CHEM104 in Autumn and CHEM105 in Spring.Students who have completed CHEM104 and CHEM105, and wish to enrol in electives CHEM211 or CHEM212, must (a) have obtained marks of at least 80% in both CHEM104 and CHEM105, (b) complete additional directed study by two weeks before the start of the session in which the CHEM21X subjects are taken and (c) obtain permission of Head Of Students. For information about the additional directed study materials contact the CHEM104 Subject Coordinator.Mid-year entry in the Bachelor of Science must be in consultation with the Head of Students and due to the sequencing of subjects may take an addition session of study.MinorsStudents are encouraged to consider taking a minor study as part of the BSc program. Inclusion of a minor in support of your major area of study allows you to broaden your view, knowledge and expertise while specialising in areas of interest. Options include, but are not limited to, Earth and Environmental Science, Geoscience, Physical Geography, Archaeology, Biochemistry, Biodiversity, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Geology and Marine Biology.

Applicants need to have achieved the required score in a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.
