This honours degree is an optional continuation of the Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology allowing students to pursue advanced studies in a particular area of interest in ICT. The degree exposes students to research and advanced topics in ICT beyond what is offered in the three-year undergraduate degree. It provides high achieving students with an opportunity to cultivate research and development skills appropriate to the ICT discipline and to understand the fundamentals of ICT-related research.

Structure

In the BICT(Hons) candidates will do the equivalent of eight 12.5% units. Candidates must satisfactorily complete two coursework 12.5% units. Candidates must also satisfactorily complete ICT Research Methods (25%) (KIT401), and a research disseration over two 25% units (KIT402, KIT403).

Standard entry requirements

Admission to Honours courses at the University of Tasmania require qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree. Applicants must achieve the required grade in their qualifying studies, meet any prerequisite subjects and the English language requirements to be eligible for an offer. Admission is conditional on research project and supervisor availability.
