This program enables experienced engineering technologists who have more than five years industry experience, to attain the academic, personal, professional and technical knowledge, skills and understanding required to be a professional engineer.

Structure

  • 12 units: 1 one-unit self-assessment portfolio
  • 1 workplace portfolio subject (2 units)
  • 1 Industry Project (2 units)
  • 2 other core courses
  • 5 technical courses
  • 1 practice subject. Credit may be possible for subjects within the program, subject to the outcome of the first course: Self-Assessment Portfolio. i.e. less than 12 units would then be required.

Standard entry requirements

  • Completion of a 3-year bachelor, or equivalent qualification, in the area of Engineering science or engineering technology in the relevant cognate specialisation
  • Or be a Technologist Member of Engineers Australia
  • Plus at least 5 years of relevant experience in the Engineering industry
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) to demonstrate their industry experience. Note: This program is not available to international students living overseas.

Recognition

This program is accredited by Engineers Australia and graduates are eligible for Graduate membership at the Professional Engineer level.

This program is not available to international students unless living in Australia and holding a valid 457 visa with a duration of no less than 3 years.
