The Master of Information Management (Archives and Records Management) offers a learning environment informed by industry and relevant professional practice. It leverages a unique partnership with the State Library and State Records of South Australia, both in content and teaching. Students learn the most contemporary practical applications of information theory, and have the opportunity to do a practical field work project and a four-week placement in a library. Students also study several elective courses to further develop their chosen area of professional interest, and develop a profound understanding of information behaviour, literacy, reading and readers. The degree culminates in a professional research project or minor research thesis.

Study pathways

Students have the option to complete a minor thesis on a topic of their choice which could result in eligibility to apply for a PhD. Students can exit this degree with the Graduate Certificate in Information Management after having completed the first four courses or they can exit with the Graduate Diploma in Information Management (Archives and Records Management) after completing the first eight courses.
