What is electrical and electronic engineering? Electrical and electronic engineers design and build essential devices and equipment that are integral to modern life. These include systems for electricity generation and distribution, electronic automation and control of various processes, as well as the transmission and reception of electromagnetic signals.At the University of Newcastle, we train electrical engineers capable of solving the world's greatest challenges. With a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Honours), you could work in a range of roles. This might include power systems, renewable energy technologies, industrial electronics, robotics, control and automation systems, Industry 4.0, or telecommunication systems.You might develop precision agriculture technology to increase food production efficiency. You might design airborne base stations to improve connectivity. You might even build smart grid systems to help manage alternative energy resources. Opportunities also exist in the development of electric vehicle drives for air, land and sea. Or follow in the footsteps of our researchers and develop life-changing medical technology.

Structure

  • The Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Honours) is a four year program students are required to complete 320 units, which is comprised of:270 units of Core Courses
  • 40 units from the course list*
  • 0-unit compulsory Industrial Experience
  • and10 units Elective Course.

Standard entry requirements

Eligibility for admission to this program is based on applicants meeting the minimum selection rank, or satisfying the requirements for an approved admission scheme.

Recognition

The program is accredited by Engineers Australia. Graduates of this program are able to join as graduate members on completion, and as student members during studies.
