This degree provides an integrated approach to examining contemporary issues in health and disease. Students gain underpinning theoretical knowledge as well as practical laboratory experience in a range of discipline areas including anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, microbiology and molecular and cellular biology. A multi-disciplinary approach is taken with an emphasis on the associations between structure and function. The course encourages the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills so that graduates can apply these skills to the rapidly evolving fields of biomedical research and clinical science.

Standard entry requirements

Year 12 or equivalent. Assumed knowledge: any 2 units of Mathematics. Recommended studies: Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics. For students without the recommended background knowledge, the University offers introductory units in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics

Study pathways

Students may be eligible for credit (advanced standing) for previously completed studies. Graduates may be eligible to apply for the Bachelor of Science (Honours). An exit pathway is available for eligible students.
