The Master of Education (Advanced) provides the opportunity for existing teachers, education practitioners or other professionals to upskill, enhance research ability and develop proficiency in specific areas of education theory and practice. The course includes a solid foundation in the research of inclusion, leadership and social justice, providing knowledge and skills that empower you to enact change in program, policy and project design. Choose from three specialisation streams - Leadership and Innovation- Through a leadership lens this course provides advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in identifying issues and opportunities in education. Students will engage in designing methods of responding to issues through practice, and understand the role of technology in contemporary learning settings. Whilst exploring a range of contemporary innovations and focusing on analysing and critiquing existing innovating approaches. - Inclusive Literacies - Through investigating and analysing contemporary literacy practices this course prepares education professionals to focus on critical issues in literacy including diagnosis and intervention. Additionally, students will explore how to address reading literacy in a culturally and linguistically diverse context. - Inclusive Education - Through an inclusive lens this course has a strong focus on supporting autistic and neurodivergent individuals and those with mental health conditions. A person-centred approach is used throughout this course to help introduce the skills required when supporting individuals with a range of additional learning needs. This course is informed by current evidence-based research and pedagogy, and consultation with neurodivergent communities.
Structure
For each of the three specializations that you choose, 10 core and 6 elective subjects must be completed. Each subject involves 10 hours of study per week, comprising three hours of facilitated study and seven hours of self-directed study.
Standard entry requirements
AQF Level 7 (Bachelor degree) or above from an Australian University OR An equivalent overseas higher education qualification OR a Combination of formal (below AQF7) or non-formal qualifications and three years of relevant professional experience including those who are currently working in education-related fields and teachers holding alternative qualifications.
