At the highest levels of sport, the smallest advantage can make the difference between a champion and a runner up. Launch a career in this global industry and enter the next era of competitive sport. With support from academics and industry representatives, students will gain advanced skills in data warehousing and analytics, with a specialist focus on elite sport content. Students will learn to recognise opportunities in data, and to deliver insights on strategy, recruitment and performance using data visualisations taught in state of the art VisLabs. Supported by regular talks from leading sports analysts, students will undertake a project-based learning model designed by industry partners, including Carlton Football Club, Melbourne City Football Club, Catapult and Optus. This course is designed with a range of educational and working backgrounds in mind. It will provide graduates with the knowledge and skills to excel in this rapidly growing profession.


Students must complete 180 credit points over one and a half years of full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Standard entry requirements

  • Successful completion of an Australian cognate Bachelor degree (or its equivalent) in computer science and/or sport and exercise science
  • Prior learning developed through relevant work experience or professional accreditation, where it is deemed to be at least equivalent to that obtained through a cognate Bachelor degree, may be considered
  • In making an offer to an applicant, the University will give consideration to a range of factors to determine whether an applicant has demonstrated the capacity to work at a postgraduate level, including academic record, English proficiency, and/or employment experience.
