This three-year nursing degree gives you practical experience from first year. Hands-on experience begins at on-campus hospital simulation centres and extends to supervised experience in hospitals and healthcare agencies. Our metropolitan senior students will study at clinical schools in leading Victorian hospitals like The Alfred, The Austin, Royal Melbourne and The Northern. You'll cover practical nursing subjects like bioscience, long-term critical illness and Indigenous health as they learn to care for people with long-term conditions, emergency health needs and mental health needs. You'll also learn how to manage their time, lead teams, manage caseloads and make ethical clinical decisions with a compassionate and caring approach.
Students must complete 360 credit points, as well as clinical placements in a range of settings.

Standard entry requirements
VCE Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL. NB: Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Nursing (Enrolled Nurse Entry) may be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a nurse. Professional registration may be subject to additional or ongoing requirements beyond completion of the degree. Please contact the relevant professional body for details.

This course has a clinical component. Students enrolled in the program will be registered as students, at no cost with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Please note the AHPRA standard of English language required to register as a nurse in Australia. There is also a Winter semester at the Melbourne Campus.
