In this new and integrated vertical degree, you will gain a thorough grounding in the application of clinical, development, biological, cognitive, social and organisational psychology. You will then build on this broad knowledge base with studies in the specialist area of rehabilitation counselling.To acquire the advanced knowledge and skills to work as a rehabilitation counsellor, you will learn about vocational evaluation, job placement, injury management, disability studies, applied counselling and research methods. You will put this all into practice through a supervised practicum placement in a rehabilitation counselling setting.

Study pathways

A further year of study that leads to the award of Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) (2004) or Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) (2033) is available to students who meet the specified requirements for admission to the Honours program.Students who complete the dissertation component of the Master of Rehabilitation Counselling will have a pathway to higher degree research study. Graduates who wish to continue onto higher degree research studies and have not completed the dissertation component would be eligible for entry into the Graduate Diploma of Health Research (4161) which provides the necessary preparation for entry into the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program.
