This degree prepares teachers, educators and leaders in schools, the community, workplaces, universities and training institutions to develop an understanding of the cognitive psychology of learning and investigate how this can be applied to problems that arise in learning and teaching.

Structure

Students complete six core (compulsory) topics and ten option topics chosen from an extensive range of option topics available aimed at expanding students knowledge and practice with a focus on understanding and renewing teaching and learning.

Standard entry requirements

Applicants must normally hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification or hold a the Graduate Certificate in Cognitive Psychology and Educational Practice or closely related qualification.Selection is based on academic merit.

Recognition

Graduates will not be eligible for teacher registration. Please see the Master of Teaching suite to undertake a postgraduate teaching qualification that leads to teacher registration.

Study pathways

The University may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, consider applicants who do not hold a bachelor degree or equivalent but can demonstrate relevant higher education study with relevant work experience, or relevant work experience which may meet the requirements for entry into the course.
