Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. Modern nurses play an important role in health promotion, maintenance and education, as well as in traditional patient care and the restoration of health. The course aims to prepare students to become nurses who have a clear understanding of the professional requirements of nursing, are reflective about their practice and have well-developed clinical reasoning skills.

Structure

The course is highly structured and combines professional experience placement with topics addressing ethics, law, psychosocial health, mental health, Indigenous health, evidence-based practice and the biophysical sciences. Professional experience placements are undertaken for the duration of the degree in agencies and hospitals throughout metropolitan and rural South Australia.
