The Bachelor of Information Technology (Professional Practice) is Federation's premier co-operative degree, with a long history of providing students with successful placements with key industry partners including IBM®, and more recently Kyndryl and Westpac. Develop an understanding of delivering large scale and complex IT projects, through a combination of study and practical industry experience, and mandatory career development units including a minimum of 60 days of paid placement through Federation Co-op.

Structure

This course consists of 360 credit points. Industry experience is a key and compulsory component of this degree. You will complete 20 core units and 4 specialisation electives as well as undertake valuable experience in your chosen profession, with 60 days of paid placement through our Co-operative Model (with IBM and/or other industry sponsor). All students must complete specified industry experience in order to successfully complete the course.

  • Digital Literacy, User Centred Design, Connected Systems, Data and Information Systems, Professional Identity (IT), Cybersecurity Fundamentals, Foundations of Programming, IT Management Techniques, Co-op placement.

Recognition

This program holds Professional Level accreditation with the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

Credit will be considered if you have successfully completed higher education or TAFE studies in a relevant field. Advanced standing will be determined on an individual basis, depending on your eligibility for credit transfer, prior experience and qualifications.
