Standard entry requirements

  • Applicants must have a master degree by coursework and research experience
  • Or a master degree by research or hold an equivalent qualification from a recognised Australian tertiary institution, or hold an international qualification deemed to be equivalent as determined by NOOSR.To gain entry to the program students will normally have achieved a credit average (or equivalent) in their masters (or equivalent) studies as a demonstration of their capacity to undertake postgraduate work at an advanced level. In addition to acceptable academic qualifications, an applicant for admission shall:have at least five years of full time (or equivalent) practice in Public Safety or in a cognate area, some of which must be currentmeet the University's English language proficiency requirementsVariation to admission requirements based on recognition of prior learning will be assessed by the HDR Coordinator in consultation with the Sub Dean Graduate Studies, Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences. An applicant for admission to the Doctor of Public Safety may be accepted without the qualifications specified above if the applicant has some other appropriate combination of undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications and/or professional performance which demonstrate they are capable of undertaking research at a Doctoral level. These admission requirements are necessary to ensure that candidates have sufficient academic ability and professional experience to conduct research that leads to advanced, critical reflection on professional practice.
