This program functions as a pathway into degree studies at Avondale for those who do not meet the direct entry requirements. Most students are able to start their chosen Avondale degree after successfully completing one semester in this program. It provides individual help in critical thinking, essay and assignment writing, managing a study program and other skills necessary for academic success or entry into employment.

Standard entry requirements
Applicants are generally expected to have completed Year 12 (or equivalent) with a minimum ATAR of 45 or OP of 21. Applicants who have completed Year 12 OR who are 19 years and above by March 1 in the year of commencement of the course who obtain appropriate UniTEST/TOWA scores. Those who do not obtain appropriate UniTEST/TOWA scores may qualify to enter following further testing.
Study pathways
Appropriate performance in the diploma may be used as a pathway to degree studies. Students are not required to complete the full two years of the diploma before transferring to a bachelor's degree.
