SIDA Foundation PhD Scholarship

The Society of Interior Designers of Australia (SIDA) was founded in 1951 with the desire to advance the art of interior design services to the public, as well as assisting designers just entering the field. Since the disestablishment of SIDA in the 1990s, The SIDA Foundation has managed the remaining resources of SIDA with the aim of furthering interior design education and practice. The SIDA Foundation has provided funding for a UniSA scholarship to support interior design PhD students. The establishment of The SIDA Foundation PhD Scholarship will support the development of PhD qualified practitioners and academics with expertise in the field of interior design. The SIDA Foundation PhD Scholarship is available to commencing full-time Doctorate by Research students enrolled at the University of South Australia studying in the field of interior design.

Eligibility

The PhD scholarship is open to Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents of Australia and international students. Applicants must not have completed a PhD. Applicants are required to hold a Research Training Program Domestic Stipend (RTPDSTIP) or a University of South Australia Postgraduate Award (USAPA) and be able to study full-time. Eligible international students are required to hold a Research Training Program International Stipend (RTPISTIP), a University President Scholarship (UPS), or an International Research Tuition Scholarship, and be able to study full-time. Applicants are expected to hold a first class Honours degree (or equivalent). The scholarship is designed to support PhD research-related travel, data collection, consumables or a final exhibition for those candidates wishing to present an exhibition of work. Other activities identified in an application may be approved by the selection panel. The recipient will receive $5000 per annum for a maximum of three years ($15000 in total). The annual $5000 payment will be paid in one instalment after Research Study Period One census date provided the recipient maintains full-time enrolment and satisfactory academic performance. Applicants are required to provide a curriculum vitae and a written statement (800 word maximum) with their application outlining: - the research to be undertaken as part of their PhD - how the research will make a significant contribution to the development of the practice of the interior design profession - career goals and future plans - how the scholarship will help achieve their ambitions Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend a selection panel interview. At all speaking engagements and publications arising from the research, recipients should acknowledge the support of The SIDA Foundation.

Amount $5,000

The recipient will receive $5000 per annum for a maximum of three years ($15,000 in total). The annual $5000 payment will be paid in one instalment after Research Study Period One census date provided the recipient maintains full-time enrolment and satisfactory academic performance.
