The Creative Industries is one of the fastest-growing, most dynamic sectors in the world.The study of music integrates physical, intellectual and emotional aspects, including instrumental or vocal performance, composition, music production and recording, history and theory. This degree offers a deeper understanding of how music works, as well as the skills to develop as a creative practitioner and prepare for a career in the arts.This is a versatile, hands-on degree that prepares you for a career in the global creative industries. With a strong focus on contemporary music practice, this major combines performance, composition and both electronic and acoustic media so you can build your skills and expertise across three interrelated areas: music studio, audio production and critical studies in music.

Structure

To qualify for award of the degree, the Bachelor of Creative Arts, a candidate must successfully complete at least 144 credit points (cp) comprised of:a) Core subjects for the Bachelor of creative arts, outlined in the below schedule (24 credit points);b) At least one of the four majors for the Bachelor of Creative Arts:- Creative Writing (72 credit points),- Music (72 credit points),- Visual Arts (72 credit points),- Visual Arts and Design (96 credit points)c) Electives to bring the total number of credit points completed to 144.- No more than 60cp at 100 level can be counted towards the Bachelor of Creative Arts degree.- Students who successfully completed a major study in Music (72 credit points), Creative Writing (72 credit points), or Visual Arts (72 credit points) are required to take 48 credit points of electives.- Students who successfully completed a major study in Visual Arts and design are required to take 24 credit points of electives.- Students may not undertake a Major and Minor Study in the same discipline (for example, students cannot take both a major and a minor in Creative Writing).- Students may utilise their credit points of general electives to complete a major (48 credit points) or minor (24 credit points).

Standard entry requirements

Successful completion of a qualification equivalent to the completion of 13 years of schooling in Australia.
