Our program is grounded and future-focused, shaping students who care for Country, who are motivated by social and ecological issues, and who explore their potential as agents for change. We are driven by hands-on studio learning, where you will spend most of your time—more than other NSW programs—in our newly refurbished design studio. With options for undertaking a diversity of project briefs as well as exciting, special elective projects, we are committed to developing the best learning experience for our tight-knit student cohort. We work collectively to create a vibrant and engaged design community that centres on our: - 24-hour access Architectural Design Studio - Workshop & Advanced Prototyping Facility - Makerspace and emerging technology PixelSpace Lab - On-Country site experiences We are focused on creating inquisitive, agile, and skilled graduates. To reflect the diverse forms of practice architects are now engaged in, our program is designed to help you become the architect you want to be. You will participate in a range of projects, both guided and self-directed, with the option to pursue a year-long final project of your own conception.
Structure
The program requires the completion of 160 units, 140 of which are core courses, 10 units are directed courses and 10 units are electives.
Standard entry requirements
Admission to this program is available via the direct application to UON. Applicants must have successfully completed a Bachelor of Design (Architecture) program, or approved equivalent in order to apply for entry.Mid-year entry is now available in this program.
Recognition
Architects Accreditation Council of Australia:The Master of Architecture is recognised for registration by the State Boards of Architects, the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia, the Australian Institute of Architects and the Royal Institute of British Architects. This program along with a minimum of two years professional experience and subject to passing a professional practice exam conducted by the State Board of Architects, leads to registration as an architect.NSW Architects Registration Board:The Master of Architecture is accredited by the NSW Accreditation Registration Board (NSW ARB)Board of Architects Malaysia:The Master of Architecture program has been validated by the Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (Board of Architects Malaysia) as equivalent to / exempt from their Part II examination.
