Social Science is the study of social systems, institutions, and cultures.   • The Bachelor of Social Science requires the successful completion of 240 units, which is comprised of: 70 units of core courses
  • 10 units from the Career-ready placement list, 80 units Social Science major, 40 units of courses chosen from course list

Standard entry requirements

The University of Newcastle accepts a range of qualifications to determine eligibility for admission. These include, but are not limited to, Australian or overseas senior secondary qualifications (such as the HSC), prior tertiary studies, prior TAFE/VET studies, and completed enabling programs.

Study pathways

Up to 80 units of credit on the basis of certain TAFE Community Welfare Diplomas. Honours is available as an additional year to meritorious students.
