An honours degree is a one-year program that builds upon undergraduate study by introducing the challenge of an extended project. There are many reasons we encourage graduates to apply for an honours year. You might want to build the necessary foundations for postgraduate research. You could be seeking answers to questions no one else is asking in the media world. Perhaps you’re pursuing advanced creative and communication skills to gain a competitive edge in the industry. Our prerequisite for honours study is at least a credit standard in a specified major. Applications are called for by departments/disciplines in October and November each year. Attend regular classes for advanced coursework. Partner with an academic mentor who’ll support and encourage your intellectual development. Produce an extended piece of work (thesis) on a chosen topic.
