Sonographers are healthcare professionals who perform ultrasound scans to help diagnose and monitor medical conditions. They work in hospitals and private clinics, often alongside radiologists, obstetricians and other specialists.Ultrasound is a safe, fast, and non invasive imaging method widely used in healthcare. Its essential in areas like pregnancy, cardiology, and emergency care. With growing demand for diagnostic services, trained sonographers are highly sought after for their expertise in capturing and interpreting ultrasound images.

Standard entry requirements

  • An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in radiography and medical imaging with at least a 60% average. And
  • An approved workplace supervised ultrasound clinical training placement or
  • An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a related science or health sciences with at least a 60% average. The related degree must include the studies of "full body" human anatomy and physiology. Applicants must also have passed physics at Year 12 or at tertiary level or complete an equivalent physics bridging course. and
  • An approved workplace supervised ultrasound clinical training placement.
