The Bachelor of Midwifery (Pre-Registration) is for applicants with no previous formal midwifery qualifications and for enrolled nurses who would like to become eligible to apply to the Australian Heath Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a registered midwife.
Structure
The course is highly structured and links midwifery theory and practice with the psychosocial and biophysical sciences, maternal and infant assessment and an evidence-based approach to midwifery practice. Clinical placements will be undertaken for the duration of the course in agencies and hospitals in South Australia. The Continuity of Care experience will require students to provide care for individual women throughout their pregnancy and labour and in the post-natal period. This will require availability to attend appointments and be on-call for births. Clinical placements may include morning, evening, on-call and weekend shifts.

Recognition
This degree is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council. Graduates of this degree are eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as registered midwives.
