This Criminology specialisation explores the causes of crime and solutions to address its impact on people and infrastructures, and minimise the social and psychological harms it can cause. Students develop a comprehensive understanding of the impacts of communications technology, enterprise systems and information networks on the criminal justice sector, and have the opportunity to learn from world-class researchers in the areas of cybercrime and security.

Structure

Students will complete several core topics over the three years in areas such as criminology, legal studies and sociology, which will give them a sound understanding of the criminal justice system, law enforcement and the courts, justice policy and practice, and several areas of crime. As this is a cybersecurity specialisation, many core topics will have a technological focus. Final year students will learn advanced research methods in the area of criminology, which will enable them to proceed to further study in Honours, if they so wish.
