Canning College has been offering the Western Australian Universities' Foundation Program (WAUFP) since 1992. The WAUFP provides excellent university preparation in terms of English language preparation, study skills and academic background. Canning College specialises in providing university pathway programs for domestic and international students, with 30 years of experience in international education - from 1986 to 2016.
Canning is located in Western Australia, which is known as Australia's economic power house. In a travel report published in the New York Times in 2014, Baz Dreisinger wrote about Perth as 'a city embodying all things right about cities'. Canning is a senior college within the Department of Education, Western Australia. It is located in the Bentley precinct, next to Curtin University.
Western Australian Universities' Foundation Program
(Compliant with National Standards for Foundation Programs)
On successful completion of the WAUFP, Canning students are eligible for guaranteed* first-year university places in four Western Australian public universities: the University of Western Australia (UWA), Curtin University, Edith Cowan University (ECU) and Murdoch University. Results are also accepted by universities in other Australian cities.
The program consists of a compulsory unit - English Language and Australian Cultural Studies - and a range of electives (students can choose three or four electives depending on planned university studies). Electives cover commerce, sciences (physical, life and health), computing, engineering and humanities areas. Depending on subject selection, WAUFP students can prepare for any major area of university studies. Students are awarded a Combined Percentage Score - results are comparable with ATAR levels.
January: standard one-year program, completed in November. Results and confirmed university offers are issued by mid-December. Students commence university at first-year level the following February.
April: accelerated seven-month program, completed in November. Results and confirmed university offers are issued by mid-December. Students commence university at first-year level the following February.
