The purpose of these scholarships is to support high quality research by assisting students with excellent academic qualifications who wish to participate in postgraduate research programs in Australia. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and it should be noted that the competition is intense and only those applicants with outstanding academic results are likely to be successful.

Eligibility

Applicants must: be citizens of any nation other than Australia or New Zealand; hold a bachelor degree with honours class I or IIA or an equivalent qualification; not be in receipt of an equivalent award (greater than 75 per cent of the base stipend) or, have completed a degree at the same level or higher than that proposed.

Amount $26,682

The scholarship provides a stipend of $26,682 per year (2017 rate: indexed annually). Tenure is 3 years for a PhD and 2 years for a master by research, with a possible a 6-month extension for PhD students. The scholarship also provides a thesis allowance and, where applicable, a relocation allowance.
