Mrs Shirley Cruickshank having donated an initial sum of $21,000 to establish a fund to provide a scholarship for a meritorious young Indigenous woman who is experiencing financial hardship to encourage her to pursue a full-time undergraduate degree course at The University of Western Australia. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist and encourage young Indigenous women to enrol in an undergraduate degree course at The University of Western Australia. Preference is given to applicants who completed their secondary studies at the Presbyterian Ladies College (PLC), Peppermint Grove, Western Australia.
