Buy West Eat Best Kim Chance PhD Fellowship

The Kim Chance Fellowship Award is funded through the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development's Buy West Eat Best program in honour of the programs founder, The Honourable Kim Chance MLC. The award is in memorial of the late Kim Chance, a Western Australian farmer and politician who served with the Labor party and is a former Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; in recognition of his devotion to agriculture, and for his tireless and selfless efforts to improve the lot of farmers, the wider agricultural sector and regional community's. The aim of the Fellowship is to support travel related to the recipient's research project which will enhance the recipient's experience and knowledge of their chosen area of research. Research can be associate with any area of primary industry: agribusiness, horticulture, agri-tourism, and aquaculture. A focus on protection, growth, innovation and new technologies including digital applications and communication is also welcomed.

Eligibility

Applications should be made in the form of a letter addressed to Director, The UWA Institute of Agriculture and shall include the following: Current enrolment - including a statement of work in progress; awards, publication and any other achievements to date; and an explanation of the relevance of your research. An explanation of the relevance and importance of the proposed travel to the applicant's research. A 1000 word essay on the role of WA agriculture in food and beverage production and connect to the Buy West Eat Best program. Outline of expenditure proposed under the award and any additional available funding Names and addresses for two academic referees - referees should forward their reference to The UWA Institute of Agriculture by the closing date An official transcript

Amount $10,000

This award provides $10,000 to a PhD candidate at The University of Western Australia. The objective of the Fellowship is to support a PhD candidate with the specific purpose of advancing agriculture in Western Australia.
