The Frederick Blake Shepherd Scholarship is open to disadvantaged students undertaking postgraduate study.

Eligibility

Applicants must: plan to undertake, or be currently enrolled in, a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne; have completed tertiary studies that are at least equivalent to a four year Australian honours degree with a minimum grade average of a high H2A. Selection is based on academic merit; and personal circumstances that include: Indigenous descent, illness, disability, family responsibilities, or a traumatic event beyond their control.

Amount $26,682

The scholarship provides: a stipend of $26,682 per year (2016 RTP rate); a relocation allowance of up to $2,000 for students moving from interstate or $3,000 for students moving from overseas; and a thesis allowance of $420 for master students and $840 for PhD students. Tenure is for 2 years for master students and 3 years for PhD students, with a possible 6-month extension.
